Lyall Cameron was recalled to the Dundee startling line-up for the Scottish Cup derby clash against Dundee United amid strong links to Rangers.
The 22-year-old Scotland U21 international had found himself out of the team as Rangers look to strike a pre-contract deal for Cameron this January.
With the midfielder out of contract at the end of the season, Rangers are free to negotiate terms with Lyall Cameron as they look to bring the Dundee star to Ibrox.
But any suggestion Rangers could bring the player in early has just been dealt a blow by the kid’s presence in Dundee’s eventual 1-0 Scottish Cup derby victory.

Lyall Cameron now Scottish Cup-tied
Lyall Cameron is now cup-tied and will not be able to play for Rangers in the Scottish Cup should the Dundee midfielder move to Ibrox this month.
Simon Murray scored the only goal of the game, in the first minute of the match, as Dundee progressed at the expense of Jim Goodwin’s form Dundee United side.
But the inclusion of Cameron in the match means that should Rangers pounce this January, the midfielder will not be involved in what is the Ibrox side’s only realistic chance of silverware this season.
Lyall Cameron has previously intimated it is his ‘wish’ to play for a club like Rangers.
CEO Patrick Stewart has also suggested that a planned transfer could be ‘accelerated’ this month if ‘the deal is right’ for Rangers.
Rangers target criticised by Tony Docherty
Lyall Cameron had a glorious chance to make it 2-0 against Dundee United at the start of the second half of the match at Dens Park.
But the Rangers-linked midfielder fired the ball over the bar to ensure a nervy second period of an enthralling Scottish Cup encounter.
Tony Docherty has claimed he has ‘absolutely no concern’ about those Lyall Cameron links to Rangers but admits he ‘expected’ the number ten to score.
”When you win it more often than not the opposing team opens up,” Docherty told Premier Sports.
”You then get the threat of Adewumi with his pace and we’ve got wee Lyall.
“I think it was typified by Lyall’s chance in the second half. We absorb a lot of pressure then we break on them.
”And Lyall’s standards, I expect him to score there. I think the goalkeeper saves it but he doesn’t get a corner.”
