Rangers fans have needed something since Fabio Silva arrived in a blistering start to the transfer window and the imminent arrival of Mohamed Diomande has certainly raised spirits.
The 22-year old might not be the prolific number nine or the goalscoring winger that the fans want to see at Ibrox but Gers boss Philippe Clement will be adding quality to his squad.
The numbers look good for the Jorginho-esque playmaker and Rangers fans can be encouraged by Mohamed Diomande’s current manager’s comments about just how good a player he really is.

Rangers set to land top talent in Mohamed Diomande
This is the type of market that we have neglected for far too long.
The tier two leagues where bargains can be had, especially when, like Diomande, a player’s contract expires in the next 12-months.
It would be easy to look at Mohamed Diomande’s goals and assists and think that a rate of one every four games isn’t much to write home about, however, Johannes Hoff Thorup disagreed when asked a month ago:
“Instead of talking about his scoring statistics, why don’t we look at the statistics about how many defensive tackles he makes?
“Then it would be turned into a positive story.
“Listen, Mohammed is one of the best midfielders in Denmark.
“He has been absolutely fantastic for us this season and I hope that most people can see that.”
A quick look on social media and across the amateur analysts paints the rarest of things – a unanimous verdict.
And, on this occasion, it is a positive one.
Even those of a green and white persuasion seem to be worried that this marks a change in approach from Rangers recruitment team and that Mohamed Diomande is the start of something rather than a one off.
Philippe Clement wants to play with a high intensity and with players who can all look after the ball and Diomande is exactly that.
Think about a player who is a hybrid between Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara and you aren’t far away.
No wonder Thorup rates him so highly.
