Rangers have been handed a boost in their pursuit of BK Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen this summer.

Hacken expect Andersen to leave in the coming months, as there are a host of clubs keen on securing his services.

While a new midfielder is not the priority currently for the Light Blues, Nicolas Raskin’s summer exit could see them enter the market for a replacement.

Rangers could seal Silas Andersen transfer for £5.9m

According to the Record, Hacken are demanding around £5.9m for the 21-year-old midfielder this summer.

Initially, it seemed like Rangers would need to shell out £9m to sign Andersen, but that is no longer understood to be the case.

Celtic are also monitoring the situation surrounding him, while Sporting are making significant strides behind the scenes to sign him.

Hacken are aware that there are a host of clubs keen on securing the services of one of their prized assets.

Andersen is also on the radar of clubs in Germany, with Koln and Hamburg credited with an interest in the midfielder.

Koln even tabled an offer for the 21-year-old worth £3.4m, but that was turned down by the Swedish club.

How Andersen can replace Raskin at Ibrox

Rangers would demand north of £20m for Raskin and could sign Andersen for less than half that fee.

Andersen is very similar stylistically to Raskin, so he could walk into the playing eleven and take over the number 6 role.

Both operate as high-energy players who like to progress the ball and contribute in transitions.

The Danish midfielder is significantly taller than the Belgian, as he stands at 6ft 3in, and that is another added advantage.

Andersen is also capable of operating as a centre-back, which means that he could drop deeper during the build-up, giving the Gers more fluidity in possession.

He will also offer long-term resale value as he is only going to get better in the years to come.

The 21-year-old is developing towards being a complete midfielder, and he could achieve that at Ibrox.
