The future of Alfredo Morelos looked a little clearer after leaving Rangers in May when news of a move to Fenerbahce broke.

A reunion with Ryan Kent obviously attracted the Colombian international, even if competition for places up front is fierce.

One such rival is Michy Batshuayi, however, a move to Nottingham Forest cleared the way for Alfredo Morelos to finally secure a new club after Rangers.

Unfortunately for Morelos, the Belgian’s move has been called off, ironically, with Ross Wilson likely to have been a key figure in the deal.

El Bufalo had travelled to Turkey and underwent a medical but, according to Yabiz Sabincoglu, who broke the story via Sports Digitale, talks have ended:

“Fenerbahçe stopped its meetings with Alfredo Morelos, which he brought to Istanbul!”

Deadline day will see clubs make panic or last-minute transfers and Alfredo Morelos is still in a good position to find a new club, even if they aren’t quite on Rangers level.

Fenerbahce seemed like the perfect fit given that they regularly compete for trophies, would be able to offer the sort of money he is after and compete in Europe too.

As we’ve seen with Ryan Kent already though, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the continent with winger struggling to hold down a regular place.

It didn’t help his cause that Dusan Tadic signed after he had committed to the Super Lig side.

I’d imagine that, if he knew Tadic was signing too, Kent might have reconsidered.

Alfredo Morelos is almost back at square one in his pursuit somewhere he can call home but it doesn’t look like the balloon shops of Istanbul will be seeing their profits rise any time soon.
