Morgan Whittaker has long been a target for Rangers Football Club.
Back in the January of 2023, Michael Beale identified the attacker as a potential signing for the Ibrox side but saw an approach rebuffed by Swansea City.
With Plymouth Argyle eventually breaking their transfer record to sign Morgan Whittaker for a fee of £1m come last summer, what a 12 months it’s been for the attacker.
Netting 20 goals for Argyle last season, Whittaker even saw an approach from Serie A Lazio rebuffed in January.
Rangers have been keeping a close eye on the attacker’s progress and now Plymouth have named their price; with a second Ibrox bid falling short.

Rangers told Whittaker price
At 23-years-old Morgan Whittaker undoubtedly fits Rangers’ player trading ambitions.
Young, talented, and English trained with plenty of room to develop, Ibrox is a stage built for the attacking abilities of the winger.
Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen appear to think so too, with Morgan Whitaker named as a genuine Rangers target over the weekend.
But after an initial approach from Ibrox was turned down, Rangers have reportedly just seen a second bid fail.
That’s according to Football Scotland, who are also claiming that Plymouth want around £10m for the attacker this summer.
This comes with Rangers being repeatedly warned off a move by incoming Plymouth manager Wayne Rooney.
Rangers could yet strike transfer deal
Whilst the report acknowledges that Rangers will not stump up such a fee outright, the Ibrox side’s interest is certainly not off the table.
With Morgan Whittaker keen on the move to Glasgow, it’s being claimed that Rangers could supplement Plymouth’s demands with a more structured deal.
Given Rangers are being consistently mentioned alongside Whittaker, this interest isn’t going anywhere.
But it remains unclear just how far Rangers are willing to go to sign a player they could’ve picked up for a fraction of the price last summer.
With Plymouth now demanding 10 times that fee, Rangers have also been linked to the likes of Gonçalo Borges instead.
In the meantime, Rangers attentions are focused elsewhere with the club reportedly interested in former Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel.
