There is “plenty of interest” in Rangers-linked Greek striker Tasos Douvikas with Eredivisie club Utrecht only willing to sell the player for the right price.
Dutch journalist Stef de Bont took to Twitter to discuss the 23-year-old striker’s situation amid apparent links between Utrecht and Royal Antwerp’s Swiss striker Michael Frey.
Whilst the journalist was clear that he is not hearing that Frey is an active target for Utrecht, the Voetbal International writer did expand on the situation surrounding Tasos Douvikas.
Despite failing to mention any names, the journalist insists there is plenty of interest in the forward and suggested that Utrecht are willing to deal if the price is right.
“Making phone calls left and right, but nowhere in Utrecht do I hear the name Michael Frey,” De Bont said.
“Doesn’t seem specific. FC Utrecht still has to sell Tasos Douvikas first anyway. Plenty of interest, but the Greek will only leave for the right amount.”
Interest in Tasos Douvikas builds as Rangers look elsewhere
The comments come after Rangers were extensively mentioned alongside a move for Tasos Douvikas earlier in the transfer window.
There were even reports which claimed that Rangers were set to present a £7m offer for the attacker as the club’s hunt for a striker was stepped up.
However, Rangers would go on to splash the cash to sign Belgian-born Nigerian international and Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers and things would go quiet on Douvikas.
Perhaps the potential transfer involved in the move turned the Ibrox side off but Tasos Douvikas isn’t the only Eredivisie striker being linked with a move to Rangers.

Interest in Feyenoord’s Brazilian forward Danilo is still “very much live” but the Ibrox side are said to be hoping to ship some names out of the club first.
This could include for Croatian forward Antonio Colak, who has been strongly linked with a move out of Ibrox and most recently to Italy.
