Rangers failed in a January bid for Owen Beck but now the left-back is set for a timely Dundee audition as Borna Barisic lines up a move out of Ibrox.

The Gers are facing off against Dundee at Dens Park this afternoon as they look to bounce back from midweek Europa League disappointment at the hands of Benfica.

With Celtic also leapfrogging Rangers into the Premiership’s top spot, regaining an advantage before a two week international shut-down is viewed as a must.

But the Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee will also see Rangers face off against Liverpool loanee Owen Beck as the club prepares for some upheaval at left-back this summer.

Rangers to get Owen Beck Dundee glimpse

Alongside Old Firm rivals Celtic, Rangers were said to have a January loan approach for Owen Beck rebuffed after Liverpool recalled the 21-year-old from Dundee.

In the midst of an injury crisis, Jurgen Klopp eventually gave the kid some minutes with the Reds before farming Beck back out to Dundee when the Anfield club’s medical issues relented.

One of the stand-out performers in the Scottish Premiership this season, Owen Beck has made 25 league appearances for Dundee, scoring twice and laying on five assists.

It’s a solid return given Dundee’s middling place in the Scottish Premiership and if the reports regarding Rangers’ interest are legitimate, then the club will know all about Beck’s exploits.

Borna Barisic to leave Ibrox?

The clash with Dundee and the chance to catch a close-up sighting of Owen Beck also comes at an interesting transfer juncture as far as left-backs go at Ibrox.

Reports earlier in the week claimed that stalwart Rangers left-back Borna Barisic is a target for Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor as his contract ticks down in Scotland.

Having spent six years in Glasgow – and with the emergence of Ridvan Yilmaz – it looks increasingly likely that Borna Barisic will be leaving Rangers in the next few months.

Reports have even suggested the player’s representation will be jetting out to Italy to try and broker a move away from Ibrox this coming week.

It means Rangers will likely be on the hunt for a new left-back heading into next season and fans will get a glimpse of Owen Beck amid reports we had a January enquiry rebuffed.
