Rangers will see another big transformation in the summer as Philippe Clement looks to bring his own players in and move others who aren’t contributing out.

The Gers boss has given every player a chance to impress and one who clearly hasn’t is Borna Barisic

With Rangers looking to get better value for money, Philippe Clement will be looking for more players who fit his ethos and style of play and a transfer report featuring the 35-times capped Croatia international isn’t a surprise.

Rangers rumours start for Philippe Clement rebuild

Barisic has started just three league games in 2024.

Ridvan Yilmaz was once a favourite to be punted, now, there is an outcry if his name isn’t in the starting XI such has been his impact in recent months.

Compare and contrast with Barisic who, on his last start, had to be hooked at half-time against Kilmarnock such was the ineptitude of his display.

The 31-year old is one of many players who are out of contract at the end of the season and it isn’t surprise to see his name linked with a potential summer exit.

According to Sport Digitale, Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor are keen to beat the rush and that talks are under way over a Bosman deal:

“Trabzonspor started negotiations with Croatian left-back Borna Barisic, whose contract with Rangers will expire at the end of the season.

“The player’s manager will come to Turkey in the coming days.”

On a reported £21,000 per week, that is a lot of money for someone who is now second fiddle.

It is also a lot of money that could be reallocated somewhere else.

Left-backs were linked all through the January window and it would appear that Brazilian Jefte is the most likely to arrive when the window reopens

As Philippe Clement said not that long ago, there will be players leaving Rangers in the summer who should be remembered for what they have achieved at the club.

For around £2m, Barisic, with 230 appearances, has been a good signing, but now is the right time to let him go.
