Once Rangers-linked Scotland international striker Lawrence Shankland has jetted into Edinburgh to sign a deal with Premiership rivals Hearts.
Currently of Belgian side Beerschot, the striker has been snapped at Edinburgh airport ahead of the move to the Jambos with the Tynecastle side harbouring serious European hopes this season.
With a Europa League playoff and guaranteed Conference group stage football looming large, Lawrence Shankland looks set to become the latest summer signing down Gorgie.
Any deal for Shankland would be on top of moves for ex-Livingston and Dundee United stars Alan Forrest and Lewis Neilson.
The likes of Kyle Rowles (Central Coast), Alex Cochrane (Brighton) and Jorge Grant (Peterborough) have also joined the club on loan.
But as things stand it looks like Lawrence Shankland will be the Maroon club’s marquee deal of the window as Rangers fans muse over what might’ve been.
How different things might’ve been for the 26-year-old forward had links to Rangers been realised earlier in the striker’s career.

Once amongst the hottest properties in the Scottish game, Shankland’s two-season stint in the Championship between Ayr United and Dundee United had him marked as one of the most prolific strikers in the country and earned him a place in the Scotland set-up.
But injuries and a loss of form impacted the striker following the Arabs’ promotion to the Premiership and eventually Lawrence Shankland was shipped out to Belgium.
Dundee United recouped an admirable £1m for the forward only last season but after one year on the continent – and following Beerschot’s relegation and only four goals for the club – the former Queens Park youth looks set to move to Hearts on a cut-price fee.
According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Shankland will sign for Hearts on a “long-term” contract with Heaets paying Beerschot six-figures.
