Rangers are in talks over a deal for Sassuolo and Albania attacking midfielder Nedim Bajrami.
The Ibrox side are on the hunt for a new option in the ‘number ten’ role as Todd Cantwell agrees a transfer to Blackburn Rovers.
The wantaway playmaker has opened a space in the Rangers squad and now the Ibrox side are targeting Euro 2024 star Bajrami to fill the void.
With Friday’s transfer deadline fast approaching, Rangers will now be working overtime to complete the deal after news of the interest broke in Albania.
But the playmaker is expected to be one of as many as four transfers into Ibrox over the next 48 hours.

Rangers in talks over Nedim Bajrami loan signing
Whilst there are several outlets now covering Rangers’ interest in Nedim Bajrami, the news was broken by Albanian outlet Sport Mania.
The report claims that Rangers have struck a loan-to-buy for the Sassuolo midfielder, who suffered relegation following a €6m (£5m) move to the now Serie B side last summer.
At this stage it remains unclear the value of the buy option which is reportedly set to be included as part of the deal.
Having been born in Switzerland, Bajrami started his career with Grasshoppers Zurich before moving to Italian club Empoli and impressing in the Italian top flight.
Now set to complete a switch to Rangers until at least the end of the season, Bajrami has 26 caps for the Albanian national team for whom he has scored five goals.
The most famous of which came at this summer’s Euro 2024, when the 25-year-old scored the fastest goal in European Championships history.
Bajrami scored after only 23 seconds to fire Albania in front in a group stage clash with Italy that the Kuqezinjtë eventually lost 2-1.
The attacking midfielder also rasped in a stunning effort for Albania against the Czech Republic in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The long-range Nedim Bajrami strike also came after summer Ibrox signing Vaclav Cerny had put the Czechs ahead in Prague.
Bajrami one of four being targeted at Rangers
Should Rangers conclude a deal to bring Nadim Bajrami to Ibrox it will not be the end of the club’s transfer business.
The Gers remain on the hunt for a new left-sided centre-back with attentions shifting towards Germany and a former Philippe Clement player.
According to reports in France, Rangers are targeting a loan-to-buy for Hoffenheim’s French defender Stanley N’Soki before the window closes.
Rangers have also been repeatedly linked to a number of options in the left-wing area, with several names falling by the wayside as the window has progressed.
Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel looks to have agreed a deal in Spain whilst Burnley have targeted long-term Rangers target Morgan Whittaker.
Rangers are also believed to be in the market for an experienced ‘number six’ to supplement the likes of Mohamed Diomande, Connor Barron and Dujon Sterling in the middle of the park.
