Alfredo Morelos always dreamed of one day leaving Rangers and taking the next step up into one of European football’s top five leagues.

As transfer deadline day fast approaches, the Colombian still sits by the phone, however, he could be about to get offered a chance that he would be stupid to turn down.

Serie A outfit Cagliari are said to be the latest club interested in securing the services of Alfredo Morelos as life after Rangers starts to take it’s toll, according to Stopandgoal.

If El Buffalo had produced the sort of form that saw him break UEFA goal scoring records, there is no way that the 27-year old would still be without a club.

Reports of considering a move to Russia or Mexico as well as a contract offer from Azerbaijan haven’t come to anything but this latest news should see him swallow his pride and take whatever is on the table.

Alfredo Morelos has post Rangers sacrifice to seal dream

What is clear that Alfredo Morelos doesn’t have clubs banging his door down and the chance to go from Rangers in the Scottish Premiership to Serie A is one that he would have been dreaming of.

All he has to do, according to Stopandgoal is take a 50% pay cut.

Sounds simple enough.

On £33,000 per week at Rangers according to Salary Sport, even as a free agent, Morelos has to be realistic.

His form and fitness over the last 12 months won’t attract the sort of offers that he clearly thought he was going to get.

That he hasn’t already signed for a team in Saudi Arabia when money is getting thrown about all over the place tells its own story.

Cagliari is a good club in a brilliant league.

It might be a step down in terms of stature, but it is a considerable step up in terms of exposure and possibility.

One good season, focussed, fit and firing on all cylinders and the doors would open to the type of club he has always dreamed of.

Serie A or sitting at home?

It should be a no brainer.
