Philippe Clement will be hoping that some of the recent performances of his Rangers forward line encourage the board to put their hands in their pockets.
The manager needs – and has borderline demanded – new recruits to aid his Champions League quest with targets already lined-up and ready to go.
Amad Diallo’s thrilling Murrayfield display should serve as a reminder that the fringes of the big sides in England are stacked with talent and, despite the winger’s unsuccessful spell at Ibrox, Rangers shouldn’t be put off returning to Old Trafford for talent.

Why Rangers should consider more loan options like Amad Diallo
It is no longer a case of players under 21 from teams like Man Utd blocking potential talent from Auchenhowie.
Calvin Bassey and Dujon Sterling are the clear and obvious examples of how developed some of them are both physically and technically.
It might have been men against boys at points in the capital, however, look at Leny Yoro, an 18-year old with a price tag of over £50m.
Another player who put more senior colleagues to shame is Joe Hugill, in particular, Cyriel Dessers could do a lot worse than watching the 20-year old’s strike for Man Utd’s second.
Rangers should consider loan move for Joe Hugill
It helps when he has the help of Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has recently returned to his former club as part of Erik ten Hag’s backroom team.
Hugill, speaking after his stunning strike against Rangers said of the prolific marksman’s advice:
“We’ve been doing a few shooting drills and he’s been giving me a few tips.
“It’s massive having Ruud here, especially for people like myself, young and coming up, to have him in the building, even to ask questions, is massive.”
The Dutch great has been helping with more than just finishing too:
“Definitely, even in and out of possession. We’re massive on out of possession here.
“So your work rate, getting back, and then in possession is doing what strikers do, battling up there and then when you get back in front of goal, being composed and finishing.”
Utilising the loan market is a great way to save a bit of money and bolster the squad at the same time.
It didn’t work out with Diallo – for a number of reasons – but with no out and out striker similar to 6ft 2inch tall Hugill, Clement could do a lot worse than asking if he fancies a spell at G51.
If Rangers can’t sell the likes of Dessers and Sam Lammers then Nils Koppen could also consider loaning them out – the recruitment director might have to be creative moving players in both directions.
