Rangers and Celtic are among a host of clubs linked with Dundee centre-back Luke Graham this summer.

Dan Purdy has made in-person checks on the 22-year-old, as signing a new central defender is among the priorities for Danny Rohl in the coming months.

Rangers have agreed personal terms with Graham, but that does not necessarily mean that a move to Ibrox is his first priority.

Luke Graham fancies move to English Championship over Scotland stay

According to The News, despite links with both Old Firm sides, a move to the Championship is what appeals to the Scottish defender.

Portsmouth are said to be among the top contenders to secure his services, and he would be open to a move to Fratton Park.

It has been claimed that a staggering 43 clubs have registered their interest in Graham ahead of the summer transfer window.

Derby County, Norwich City, and Stoke City are among some of the clubs keen on signing the 22-year-old.

He also has interest from sides outside the United Kingdom, with a move to a European club still on the cards.

Schalke, Valencia, Sturm Graz and Red Bull Salzburg are also interested in Graham and keeping tabs on his situation.

Does this development end Rangers’ pursuit of Graham?

It is clear that Graham does not see Rangers as a priority despite agreeing on personal terms with them.

If a top-half Championship club enters conversations with him, there is a good chance that he would fancy moving there.

Even if he does not see serious interest from England, he would move to Ibrox only for a season or two and use the club as a stepping stone.

Which area should Rangers prioritise on strengthening this summer? 🤔

Andrew Cavenagh has made some bold promises!

If the hierarchy are fine with that, then they will go ahead with the deal, but the feeling is that they want leaders who will be at the club for the foreseeable future.

Graham wants to play in England and that will always be his goal, meaning that Rangers will need to replace him in 12-24 months.

It remains to be seen what Rohl’s stance on the defender is now that he fancies a move to England.
