Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland appears all set to become Rangers’ first signing of the summer transfer window.

Rangers decided against signing Shankland last summer, but are keen on not letting the opportunity pass to secure his services this time around.

Despite signing three strikers last summer, the Light Blues want some more firepower in the final third.

Rangers could announce Lawrence Shankland transfer on Tuesday

One source tells Rangers News that an official announcement could happen on Tuesday after Shankland passed his medical.

The Scotland striker came in for his medical in the morning, and the formalities have been cleared with the deal now subject to a formal announcement.

The 30-year-old, who scored 16 league goals last season, will be signing a two-year deal at Ibrox.

This contract includes the option for another year, which will keep Shankland at the club until 2029.

Rangers were keen on signing the forward before he leaves for the World Cup, and are expected to get their wish.

Which of these strikers are Rangers expected to sell?

Lawrence Shankland's arrival will surely change things!

As the Hearts forward secured a get-out clause in his contract when signing an extension last summer, the Tynecastle outfit have no choice but to let him go.

Things would have been different had they won the Scottish Premiership and the Gers would not have been able to secure his services.

What jersey number could Shankland opt for at Ibrox?

The number nine that Shankland wore at Hearts is not available at Rangers, with Youssef Chermiti wearing it.

He could be tempted to return to the number 24 he famously donned at Dundee United.

Would Rangers have won the league if they signed Lawrence Shankland instead of Youssef Chermiti?

It was worn by Nasser Djiga last season, but he has returned to Wolves and will vacate the number.

Another option for Shankland is to go for the power-packed number seven jersey.

Andreas Skov Olsen will not be re-signed by Rangers, and it was he who donned that when he joined on loan.

What will Shankland’s likely wages be at Rangers?

Shankland was among the highest earners at Hearts, but was earning a meagre £7,000/week there.

On the other hand, this past season’s reported top earner at Rangers was Mikey Moore at £44,000/week.

While the Scotland striker is not likely to be on that high a salary, one can expect it to be between £25,000 and £35,000/week at Ibrox.
