Andreas Skov Olsen moved to Rangers on loan from Wolfsburg in the January transfer window with a £9m option to buy.
The Denmark international struggled to adapt to life at Ibrox, scoring just once in 11 games and providing three assists.
Despite arriving with much fanfare, having been linked previously with Rangers, it was a move that just did not pay off for the 26-year-old.
Which area should Rangers prioritise on strengthening this summer? 🤔
Andrew Cavenagh has made some bold promises!
Rangers fans thrilled as Andreas Skov Olsen will not return next season
Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack reported that the Gers will not be using their option to buy Skov Olsen permanently this summer.
The fee was pre-agreed when he moved in January, and at the time, many thought that it would be exercised.
However, looking at how the season has progressed, Rangers feel that their money can be best spent elsewhere.
It is something that the fans have agreed with as well, as they took to X to express their disappointment over the 24-year-old’s time at the club.
How long will Danny Rohl be at Rangers?
Andrew Cavenagh has confirmed he will not be sacked ahead of the new season…
@WMacewan wrote: “An absolute no-brainer. He was awful and a waste of a shirt.”
Douglas Hall echoed his sentiments, calling him a “Major disappointment.”
@MundayHugh stated that he was excited when the club signed him, but he lacked confidence, and it is the right decision not to retain his services.
He claimed on X: “Shame. I was genuinely excited when we got him. He never got off the mark; he looked hesitant, half interested, obviously lacking in confidence. I still think there’s a player there, but we’re right not to pursue it any further; we can’t wait for him to sort himself out.”
Luke Walker hopes that the Gers learn their lesson from signing the winger and avoid bringing in players who are out of form and have played so little for their former club.
He said: “Such a boring player. We need to learn our lesson from this, we shouldn’t be getting players who are out of form with little game time, it’s not our club’s responsibility to save careers.
“Like Skov, Max Aarons barely played, with no real form, before arriving in the summer.”
Super Ally referred to him as a “Waste of money”, while Stephen Donaldson called him “Absolutely rotten.”

Andrew Cavenagh reveals summer transfer plans
Not signing Skov Olsen will save Rangers a lot of money, and Andrew Cavenagh knows how important that is going to be this summer.
The chairman has promised another significant outlay over the coming months to give Rohl the tools he needs to build a title-winning side.
Cavenagh admitted that the priority is finding leaders who can help the side when the chips are down.
Is Danny Rohl’s treatment of James Tavernier a sackable offence?
He did not start Tavernier in his final Ibrox game…
He said: “I know that is the popular topic, right?”
“I would say our focus is on building a winning team, and we are prepared to commit more resources to achieve that.
“But it is about the nuances now, about finding leaders, about finding the right mentality, and it is less about a dollar amount. We will go into this thinking ‘how do we get the best team?’ as opposed to ‘I have X pounds to spend, what do I do with it’?”
