Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz has been named as Galatasaray’s “number one” target in the position this January.
There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the Turkish international in this window amid reports Rangers rejected an initial loan bid from Galatasaray earlier in the month.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement also claimed that the 22-year-old would be going nowhere until a side met Ridvan Yilmaz’s valuation, believed to be around £3.5m.
Also reaffirming Ridvan’s commitment to the Rangers cause, it’s clear the Gers won’t be budging anytime soon but that hasn’t stopped Galatasaray once again being mentioned.
Ridvan Yilmaz Galatasaray’s “number one” target
The Turkish Super Lig giants have been namedropped by journalist Kutlu Akinpinar, who was clipped speaking on Tivibu Spor earlier today.
Whilst the comments are in Turkish, the Tweet attached to the clip claims that Galatasaray have named Ridvan Yilmaz as the club’s “number one” left-back target.
The journalist also claims there is transfer interest in Galatasaray trio Wilfried Zaha, Victor Nelsson, and Sacha Boey, although no official bids have been lodged.
Ridvan Yilmaz isn’t the only name interesting Galatasaray either, with the Turkish giants said to be looking out for a new number 8.
Rangers left-back transfer latest
Whilst the Ridvan Yilmaz saga has been the story of Rangers’ transfer window to date, the links to Galatasaray and other potential suitors had cooled in recent days.
It comes with Serie A side Verona – strongly linked to Ridvan throughout the window – opting to move elsewhere following the sale of Josh Doig.
It’s left the Ridvan Yilmaz situation fairly open ended with reports earlier in the window suggesting the Ibrox left-back doesn’t actually want a return to Turkey.
Philippe Clement has also been clear that Rangers will need an alternative left-back option should either Ridvan or squad counterpart Borna Barisic move on from Ibrox.

With the window almost set to enter its final week, the situation is going to come to a head one way or another.
But despite links to Galatasaray being rampant, Ridvan Yilmaz doesn’t exactly seem itching to get out of Rangers.
