Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz has sent a seemingly defiant transfer message to Philippe Clement after he urged his stars to prove they want to be at Ibrox.

The Rangers manager was speaking after the club’s 2-2 draw with FC Copenhagen at Ibrox as rumours continue to swirl around Turkish international Yilmaz

There’s been talk of interest from Serie A Verona, links to Galatasaray, and much speculation surrounding a player who only 18 months ago signed a £5m deal to move to Rangers.

But comments the Rangers boss made after the game might well have got a rise out of Ridvan whose taken to social media to reaffirm his love of the Gers.

Rangers boss wants hungry players

Philippe Clement was clear after the draw with the Danes that every player has his price when quizzed on the current status of Ridvan Yilmaz.

The defender has started coming onto a game as of late and the Rangers manager said this when asked if he wanted to keep the left-back around in his squad:

“We will see. We will see what’s going to happen. It’s also players need to show they really want to be here the next couple of months so we need to be prepared for everything, for every position also, that if something happens we have solutions. That is one position that we have two players; one is end of contract and the other one there is a lot of rumours around. So it’s clear that we need to be ready for that position to have solutions.”

Naturally, those comments about players needing to show their commitment raised a few questions about Ridvan Yilmaz potentially angling for the exit door.

Ridvan Yilmaz shows Philippe Clement heart

Taking to social media platform X, Ridvan Yilmaz appeared to respond to the message from Philippe Clement as the Rangers star shared an image from the Copenhagen draw.

Putting in another impressive performance, the left-back also included a caption of a blue and white love heart emoji as he sent a cryptic clue about his commitment to the cause.

Rangers fans are waiting to see what happens with Ridvan in the coming weeks as Philippe Clement looks to bolster his squad.

The Rangers manager is clear additions are expected at Ibrox with a few things “close” but absolutely nothing agreed as things stand.

There’s a suggestion that Rangers may be able recoup the sort of transfer fee they can invest in more pressing areas of the squad from the left-back’s sale.

But any suggestion Ridvan Yilmaz’s heart is not in the right place at Rangers has been shot down by the player’s latest social media post.
