Rangers have been handed a potential transfer boost as Feyenoord appear to have been priced out of a move for an increasingly frustrated Joey Veerman.

The Ibrox club are one of a number who’ve been linked to the talented Heerenveen playmaker with earlier reports suggesting the Gers were readying a £7m package [Glasgow Times].

However, since then talk of Veerman and Rangers has been replaced by Feyenoord who are the latest club to pique the interest of the midfielder himself.

Veerman, 22, had previously claimed that a move to Serie A Verona was of interest to him before they saw a reported £5m offer turned down [Scottish Sun].

This came after reported interest from Eredivisie rivals PSV died down following their signing of Brighton midfielder Davy Propper.

Now, Veerman could be left disappointed once again after previously admitting that he’d be a “very happy man” if he was allowed to move to Feyenoord.

However, amid reports Feyenoord had offered a cash plus player option, Heerenveen director Ferry de Haan rejected the notion his club would consider this as an option [Scottish Sun].

Now, a Feyenoord director has out been suggesting that the De Kuip club’s pursuit could be over despite the fact their coach Arne Slot “is crazy about him”.

“I think he’s a great player and he’s just the type that we’re missing in the team,” said Feyenoord technical director Frank Arnesen [Voetbal International].

“The coach (Arne Slot) is crazy about him too.

“I just think it will be a difficult deal because we are financially limited.”

Veerman is believed to be valued around £8m by the Dutch club and with three years left on his current deal, it’s clear that they won’t be budged for now at least.

Meanwhile, a leading Rangers insider has rejected the notion that the Ibrox club forked out an inflated transfer fee for a summer signing from Manchester United.
