Rangers hunt for quality additions continues with Philippe Clement frustrated at a Champions League exit that has seen his progress halted in the transfer market.
The manager wouldn’t have been given a blank cheque to rebuild his squad, but what qualification would have done is allow him to speed things up.
Now though, the Gers boss and Nils Koppen have to work smarter and it is players like new arrivals Robin Propper and Vaclav Cerny who must be targeted next.

Joan Jordan out in the cold after Rangers “offers”
Scouring Europe, there will be players in the top five leagues who are out of favour and who could immediately upgrade Clement’s Rangers team, the latest twist in the saga of Joan Jordan suggests that Sevilla could be open to a cut-price deal.
Cast your mind back a few weeks and it looked like Jordan was set to become a Rangers player until his agent clairified the 30-year old playmaker’s position:
“In recent days it has been reported from Scotland that Rangers have gone after the player with a loan proposal with an option to buy, worth €4m (£3.3m).
“The same sources reported that Jordán would have rejected that offer to go on loan to the Glasgow team.
“However, as this media has learned, the player’s entourage assures that Jordán has not rejected Rangers nor does he have any knowledge of a proposal from the Scottish club. He has not spoken with Sevilla FC about that hypothetical option either.”
On a reported £69,000 per week, the Catalan has only had interest from Deportivo Alaves with a 10% of his wage offer not getting past the first phone call.
Sevilla opened their La Liga campaign against Las Palmas and did so with a midfield crisis and yet Jordan stayed at home as reported by ABC.
He continues to train with the first-team but isn’t even being considered when square pegs are having to be put into round holes – sound familiar?
Could Rangers consider a cut-price Jordan move?
Not quite, but close, Rangers are currently going through a similar situation with Todd Cantwell, however, Jordan hasn’t made a transfer request and is more than happy to see out his time with the serial Europa League winners.
Clement has been happy to persevere with Tom Lawrence despite not really impressing or making any sort of impact so far, a situation rectified by Mohamed Diomande against St Johnstone in a more advanced position.
Rangers might not have made a formal offer for Jordan before, however, he fits the profile of player that Clement needs and is very available.
Could a last-minute cheeky offer be on the cards?
