Rangers target Jefte has ended his exile from loan club APOEL and returned to training in Cyprus today.

Rangers appear to be nearing January signing number three.

Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande are already on board and Rangers are now closing in on Lens winger Oscar Cortes.

The Colombian is allegedly in Glasgow to finalise his move to Rangers today, initially joining on loan.

Rangers would seemingly still like to add a left back before the transfer deadline but confusion still surrounds one target.

Jefte returns to APOEL training amid Rangers interest

A deal for Brazilian left back Jefte looked close last week as he was left out of the APOEL squad with Rangers pushing for a deal.

The 20-year-old is on loan at APOEL from Brazilian side Fluminense and has become a key Rangers target.

Jefte has bagged three goals and four assists this season, showing real potential as an attack-minded left back.

APOEL have been moving to sign a new left back, seemingly signalling that Jefte will be on his way to Rangers with the Brazilian going AWOL amid the uncertainty over his future.

However, 24Sports in Cyprus now report that Jefte is back in the country and has returned to training with APOEL.

The report states that Jefte’s future will be ‘clarified definitively’ by midnight and it’s unclear whether he is back in Cyprus to finalise a departure or to resume his playing duties with the Cypriot side.

With deadline day looming, Rangers will have their answer soon enough and the tricky nature of this move is hardly perfect with the deadline fast approaching.

Rangers not only have to negotiate with parent club Fluminense, but there also needs to be an agreement in place for Jefte to leave APOEL.

The clock is ticking and Rangers need a firm answer soon, so let’s hope Jefte’s future is sorted one way or another in the coming hours having landed back in Cyprus.
