RC Lens winger Oscar Cortes is in Glasgow having a medical ahead of a loan switch to Rangers.
The Gers look set to complete a deal for the 20-year-old Colombian imminently with reports this week suggesting Rangers had agreed a deal with the Ligue 1 side.
At least this is according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra of WinSports, who has made the claim on his official X account.
What’s more, Sierra has suggested that Rangers do have a purchase option inserted into the loan deal with a five-year contract potentially on the line if the Glasgow club exercise it.
Translated, the Pipe Sierra post reads:
“Óscar Cortés (20) is already in Glasgow finishing medical exams to sign his contract (until June) with Rangers. He will arrive on loan from Lens and will have a purchase option.
“If the Scots exercise it, they will sign him a 4-5 year contract.”
Oscar Cortes close to Rangers switch
The signing is an exciting one for Ibrox fans given the young Colombian’s burgeoning potential in the game.
Signed in the summer on a €4.5m (£3.8m) deal from Colombian side Millonarios, things haven’t quite gone to plan in France.
Making only four Ligue 1 appearances – scoring once against Stade de Reims – Cortes has spent the bulk of his time in France turning out for the club’s B Team.
Now, a move to Rangers beckons and the Ibrox support will be eager to see what Oscar Cortes can offer the club.
Whilst Cortes is traditionally a right-winger by trade, he can also play off the left as the Ibrox side finally bolster what’s been a problem area of the squad.
Ibrox transfer business won’t end with Colombian
With an announcement on Cortes due imminently, Rangers aren’t expected to stop there with several transfer deals likely to be completed in the final day-and-a-half of the window.
In terms of incomings, Rangers continue to be linked with a move for Brazilian left-back Jefte whilst the striker position is one which is expected to be reinforced.
Links to Lawrence Shankland have been cooled but fans are expecting something to break up top in the coming 24 hours.

As for outgoings, two players in the Rangers team are being strongly linked to the exit door.
Ridvan Yimaz is reportedly a target for Galatasaray whilst Jose Cifuentes looks set to secure a move to Cruzeiro in Brazil.
As for Oscar Cortes, if he does even half as well as the last Colombian hero on Rangers’ books we’re sure the fans won’t be long in taking to him.
