“It’s quite clear…” – Heart and Hand drop Rangers striker update amid Michy Batshuayi rumours

Rangers are waiting to see if they are going to be left with just one striker after Cyriel Dessers was out on standby for the African Cup of Nations.

It was abundantly clear before Nigeria’s injury crisis that Gers boss Philippe Clement needed reinforcements up front but now that need could be even greater.

If Rangers are to be without Cyriel Dessers it would leave Fabio Silva on his own, thankfully, David Edgar speaking on Heart and Hand’s daily update, has some good news.

Rangers looking for more firepower than Cyriel Dessers

A new name emerged recently in Joe Gelhardt and, despite not being impressed with this link, Edgar went on to clarify that there is a reason why other names have been mentioned:

“It’s quite clear, Rangers are after another striker.”

Heart and Hand is as good as the voice of the club when it comes to transfers, frequently being used to rubbish any transfer rumours or to provide clarity.

Previous transfer reports have suggested that just one forward would be coming in and Silva has already been signed.

As Kris Boyd said though, a more natural goalscorer has to be a priority if we are to take more of the chances that are being created.

Lawrence Shankland continues to be mentioned but, other than the Scotland international, it is more wide players like Emmanuel Dennis and Million Manhoef that have been tipped for moves.

Dennis is the more versatile of the two and played through the middle for Watford on occasion but he’s hardly the type of player that Boyd thinks we should be targeting.

This isn’t entirely true though, and even Boyd should be excited about the story that has emerged in the last 24hrs linking Michy Batshuayi, now he is the type of striker that the Sky Sports pundit is talking about – if the report is true.

Silva is a very positive start to the window but, despite the speculation, that’s 10 days that have passed and, as yet, no further additions have been made.

Hopefully Edgar is right and that Rangers bring another forward in because leaving it all to Cyriel Dessers and Fabio Silva isn’t really an option if we want to win the league.
