Another name has emerged as a possible Rangers target and with more goals needed, it’s no surprise that a striker, Joe Gelhardt is now being tipped.
The 21-year old was signed by Leeds Utd for a seven-figure fee as a teenager, showing just how highly rated he is.
But with Rangers needing goals, Joe Gelhardt might not be what manager Philippe Clement is needing, if the report in The Daily Mail is accurate.

Rangers linked with move for Leeds Utd’s Joe Gelhardt
In 90 senior appearances, including 35 in the Premier League, Gelhardt has just seven goals to his name, yes he is young, but they are hardly the sort of numbers to get excited about when there is a title challenge waiting on the other side of the winter break.
English clubs no longer sell cheap and even if his statistics aren’t great, Leeds will still be looking for a similar sort of fee that Hearts are wanting for Lawrence Shankland.
One might have the potential to improve and be sold on at a profit but the other would almost certainly guarantee goals for the next three seasons.
This is the decision that Rangers has to make, what is more important?
In an ideal world, you can get both.
Danilo, but for injury, looks like the type of player who could be sold at a profit and contribute to the team whilst he calls Ibrox home and is part of Clement’s squad.
One of the other issues is wages.
They pay more in England because they have more money to spend.
Joe Gelhardt is on a reported £16,500 per week according to Spotrac, that isn’t the sort of wage (or more) that Rangers should be paying for a backup and someone who could be third choice, at best.
It is one of the reasons why our wage bill is so high, we have recruited a lot of players from England in recent seasons and, even on free transfers, they cost a lot of money in terms of salary.
If Rangers need wasn’t for someone who can immediately come in and score goals, the link to Joe Gelhardt would make more sense.
But we do, and it doesn’t.
