Rangers have confirmed a pre-season friendly with Greek club Olympiakos, meaning Korean international Hwang In-Beom is in line to rock up in Govan this summer.
Whilst some fans might’ve been hoping the midfielder would be bearing the Rangers jersey they’ll have to make do with catching a glimpse of the 26-year-old in the famous red and white stripes of Olympiakos.
Rangers have announced the mid-week clash with the Greek Super League giants as a pre-season warm up match which has shades of the big European encounters the club’s new stars will have to face in the Champions League qualifiers.
With the match set to take place on Wednesday 26th July, it’ll certainly have shades of the competitive clashes Rangers will face as they look to navigate two qualifiers to make the Group Stages of the competition.
The Rangers website has all the official ticketing information for the clash with Olympiakos with the club also confirming that this will be final pre-season friendly before the campaign gets underway.
A statement reads:
“Rangers can today confirm another exciting pre-season fixture with Olympiacos the visitors to Ibrox on Wednesday, July 26 at 7.45pm.

“The match completes the pre-season fixture diary for Michael Beale’s side as they gear up for the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
“The Greek Super League side will provide another strong test for the squad, with matches also confirmed against Newcastle United, Hamburger SV and Hoffenheim.”
Rangers-linked Olympiakos duo set for Ibrox visit
Should Olympiakos fail to lose him, the clash with Rangers will see Korean international midfielder Hwang In-Beom play at Ibrox.
The World Cup star was the subject of Ibrox transfer links earlier in the window, with reports claiming the player was partly the subject of a Greek scouting trip ahead of the new season.
Whilst a move for Hwang In-Beom has failed to materialise, Rangers fans will still have a close eye on the midfielder given beaten Champions League Finalists Inter Milan were also linked to a £13m move ahead of the summer window.

Rangers kick off their pre-season schedule with a home clash against Newcastle United on 19th July, which is coincidentally Allan McGregor’s testimonial match.
The Gers will then also play games against Hamburger SV (H) and Hoffenheim (A) as they gear up for the Premiership kicking off on August 5th and Champions League QR3’s first leg on the 8th or 9th of August.
