Rangers are chasing three players in Greece with Panathinaikos duo Dimitrios Kourbelis and Fotis Ioannidis and Olympiacos ace Hwang In-Beom wanted.

That’s according to Greek reporter Georgios Sideridis, who claims that Rangers scouted the Athens derby between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos.

The game – which took place on Saturday – ended in a 0-0 draw as the spoils were shared.

It’s suggested that Rangers had three players on their radar in Kourbelis, Ioannidis and Hwang.

All three players started though Hwang was the only one of the trio to play the full 90 minutes.

Who are Rangers targets Kourbelis, Ioannidis and Hwang?

SDNA noted last week that Rangers were interested in signing Kourbelis with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

The holding midfielder is currently Panathinaikos captain but could leave for nothing.

Rangers are likely to makes changes in midfield this summer and 29-year-old Kourbelis could be seen as a solid performer in Michael Beale’s engine room.

Teammate Ioannidis is a striker who showed promise at Levadiakos to earn his 2020 move to Panathinaikos.

Strong and athletic, Ioannidis is a nuisance to deal with but isn’t exactly a prolific goalscorer.

The 23-year-old has only scored 13 goals in 87 games for Panathinaikos and has found the net just three times this season.

Ioannidis hasn’t scored in four Greece caps either and Rangers fans may worry about his goalscoring abilities.

Hwang only joined Olympiacos last summer as he left Russian side Rubin Kazan.

A South Korea international with 41 caps to his name, Hwang is a technically-gifted central midfielder and featured at the World Cup in Qatar.

Hwang has bagged four assists this season and is creative player who loves to break into the box whilst also being a threat from set pieces.

The 26-year-old is the most impressive of the three targets for us but is likely to come with the highest asking price too.

It feels a little surprising that Rangers would be doing so much scouting in Greece but Ross Wilson needs to cast his net far and wide in search of signings.
