Egypt winger Ibrahim Adel is one name who turned heads amongst Rangers fans this week.
The 23-year-old Pyramids FC winger stole the show for Egypt at the Paris Olympics with this summer seemingly the moment Adel catches his big break in Europe.
There have been conflicting reports about Rangers interest in Adel but none of that appeared to matter come Wednesday morning.
That’s because sources had confirmed to Rangers News that Adel was closing in on a move to Spain.
But with Getafe reportedly the club most likely to conclude a deal for the ‘next Mo Salah’, the latest coming out of Egypt suggests the transfer has hit a late snag.

Ibrahim Adel caught in Spanish transfer limbo
Rangers are on the hunt to bring a left-wing option into their squad before Friday’s transfer deadline and Ibrahim Adel certainly appeared to fit the bill.
A creative, tricky and direct wide option from an emerging market, Adel appears to posses both the ability and the potential to star for Rangers and bank us a future fortune.
Amid news that a move to Spain beckoned, Rangers fans had quickly moved on to other targets but now Adel might not be going anywhere after all.
According to Cairo 24, Adel is currently stuck in limbo in Madrid waiting for the green light to go and have a medical ahead of a switch to Getafe.
It’s claimed Pyramids are willing to let the winger go on loan to Spain for a fee of $500k (£380k) but they are currently having issues coming up with the money.
Remarkably, it’s been claimed that Getafe now need to shift a player out of their squad to fund the deal with any move for Adel now ‘halted’ as a result.
Rangers miss out in cut-price left-wing transfer hunt
Rangers fans will meet this news coming out of Egypt with a few raised eyebrows.
Reports had suggested Pyramids FC wanted £5m to sign Ibrahim Adel this January but this news, which is closer to the source, suggests a very different situation.
Rangers need a left-winger and a temporary £380k deal may well have been a solid solution to the club’s lack of creative depth on the flanks.
Instead Rangers are left scouring the transfer market in the hunt for four new players as the club target a left-sided centre-back, a ‘number six’, a ‘number 10’ and a left-winger.
At the time of writing, the only transfer which is showing signs of progress is that of Albanian attacking midfielder Nedim Bajrami.
Rangers are reportedly in negotiations over a loan-to-buy deal for the relegated Sassuolo forward, who cost the Italian side £5m only last summer.
