The countdown is on for Rangers fans until a season that started badly and got gradually worse comes to an end.
That there is a Europa League quarter-final keeping the campaign is a bizarre paradox for a Rangers squad that have broken records, with none of them being good ones to break either.
Barry Ferguson’s chances of staying as manager are almost zero after the defeat to Hibernian, but this isn’t the only dilemma.

There are several positions that need to be addressed but the current rumour of Greg Taylor being linked to Rangers is one that is raising a few eyebrows.

Speaking on the BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast for the 8th of April, panelist Craig Telfer, who also presents A View From the Terrace, is a fan of the move, but there’s a catch:
“I could see it, but I think it’s very unlikely to happen just purely because of the rivalry between Rangers and Celtic,” said Telfer.
“It’s not often that you see players directly going from one club to the other. In fact, off the top of my head, I can’t think of any certain, certainly outside of youth level, players moving between that level.
“I can’t think of it. However, if it was to happen, certainly on paper, I think it’d be a terrific signing for Rangers. I think that Taylor’s shown he’s got the minerals, he’s got the character to play for a big team.
“He’s resilient. I think there’s a number of times he’s been written off, but always seems to bounce back and always seems to do well for them. Tactically astute, I thought he was particularly excellent under Ange Postecoglu.
“So yeah, I think on paper it would be a good signing, but just because of the rivalry between the teams, it feels to me that it’s something that’s a wee bit unlikely.”
Should Rangers make audacious Taylor bid?
There are several reasons why signing Taylor would be a good idea, the fact that there is an argument for him to be a more reliable option than Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz is one for a start.
Rangers need more Scottish talent, good ones don’t grow on trees, and Taylor is available without a transfer fee.
The 27-year old Scotland international also wouldn’t demand big wages.
There are shades of Craig Moore’s recommendation to sign Daizen Maeda, one that Ross Wilson knocked back because Celtic had already brought players in from Japan and didn’t want to be copying them.
Everything Telfer says is on the money. Character has been in short supply at Ibrox this season and for the last few years, he may have strayed, but why shouldn’t a lost sheep be welcomed back into the flock?
