Kris Boyd is never shy courting some controversy when it comes to Rangers and Celtic.
The former Rangers hitman is one of the most prominent names on the Scottish football punditry circuit and routinely takes aim where appropriate.
Even after the win over Dundee, Boyd criticised two Rangers stars for failing to step up and support the much-maligned Cyriel Dessers and never holds back when giving his two cents.
But Kris Boyd has been making headlines at the start of this week for different reasons altogether.
That’s because Boyd has just tipped Rangers to steal one Scotland international from under the noses of eternal Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Kris Boyd tips Rangers to snatch Scotland star from under Celtic noses
The debate over whether or not Rangers fans should play for Celtic and if Celtic fans should play for Rangers is as old as time itself.
But over the years there have been several bluenoses who’ve turned out at Parkhead and vice verse.
For every Maurice Johnston in Govan, there’s been a Michael O’Halloran or Liam Burt however, and Rangers fans are always sceptical of green allegiances inside Ibrox.
Celtic too have had mixed results. Bluenose forward Lewis Morgan immediately ditched the Hoops the moment he left Celtic.
But at Parkhead there’s a feeling that Scotland star Greg Taylor, who is out of contract in the summer, hasn’t always been treated fairly because of history with the Ibrox side.
At one stage Taylor was a dyed-in-the-wool bluenose and Kris Boyd reckons Rangers could get one over Celtic by snatching the defender come the end of his Parkhead deal.
”If you’re Rangers would you offer Greg Taylor a contract?” Boyd asked the Scottish Sun.
”Just when you think of Yilmaz and Jefte. I think Greg Taylor has shown for a consistent period of time now how consistent he has been.
”If he’s not going to be at Celtic, he said he want to play football, he wants to play regular. Could we see him switch sides in Glasgow?”
Greg Taylor ‘better’ than Rangers’ current left-back options
Kris Boyd wasn’t making an April Fool’s joke with his Rangers claims either.
The former Ibrox hitman genuinely reckons that Greg Taylor could offer something to Rangers and reckons the left-back is better than what the Gers already have.
It comes after Celtic agreed a pre-contract deal for Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney, who will return to Parkhead to replace Taylor in the summer.
There also remain major questions over Rangers pair Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz.
| Jefte | Ridvan Yilmaz | Greg Taylor | |
| Appearances (starts) | 27 (25) | 17 (11) | 22 (19) |
| Goals (xG) | 0 (0.69) | 0 (0.46) | 0 (0.83) |
| Assists (xA) | 2 (2.88) | 2 (1.62) | 6 (3.93) |
| Successful passes (pass accuracy) | 1145 (83.8%) | 469 (82.3%) | 1409 (88.1%) |
| Successful crosses (cross accuracy) | 25 (29.1%) | 11 (19.6%) | 11 (18%) |
| Chances created | 29 | 20 | 31 |
| Successful dribbles (%) | 31 (49.2%) | 13 (44.8%) | 8 (50%) |
| Touches (in opposition box) | 2128 (37) | 924 (18) | 2032 (48) |
| Duels won (%) | 156 (52.2%) | 53 (54.1%) | 95 (54%) |
| Recoveries | 113 | 65 | 83 |
| Possession won in final third | 9 | 4 | 9 |
| Fouls won (fouls committed) | 17 (26) | 19 (3) | 20 (14) |
”I think he’s shown that for a period of time now,” Boyd claimed when asked if Taylor is a better player than Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz.
”There’s no getting away from it. As a free contract, he might not sign it, but we know the way the world works now. You could ask the question.”
The comments come after Andy Halliday slaughtered Ridvan Yilmaz for his performance in the first-half of Rangers’ eventual 4-3 win over Dundee.
