Former Celtic attacker Lewis Morgan has pledged his allegiances to Rangers despite previously turning out for the Parkhead club earlier in his career.
Now playing in MLS with New York Red Bulls, where the 26-year-old scored 15 times last season, Morgan claims that despite turning out at Parkhead he’s back to supporting his boyhood blues.
This comes after Lewis Morgan spent 18 months at Celtic Park following a breakthrough stint with St Mirren, where he fired the Paisley club back to the Scottish Premiership in 2018.
The comments came in a this or that style interview with Goal and when presented with the Rangers and Celtic badges Lewis Morgan said:
“That’s a tough one to answer.
“Rangers. I grew up a Rangers fan. I got the chance to play for Celtic, from a footballing perspective that was a big deal.
“Now that I’m not there anymore and playing over here I’m back to being a Rangers fan.”
Ex-Celtic star Lewis Morgan pledges allegiances to Rangers
Rangers fans will take note of the comments with plenty at Ibrox believing you can never truly support the Gers if you pull on a Celtic jersey.
By the same token, Lewis Morgan probably won’t be going for a pint on the Gallowgate any time soon after admitting to the Celtic support that he has more interest in Rangers.
The whole thing has shades of the Scott Allan saga under Mark Warburton, where Hibs refused to sell the midfielder to Rangers in the Scottish Championship.

Celtic instead swooped in and purchased the player – a boyhood Rangers fan – before barely letting him kick a ball and allowing his career to go sideways.
Whilst we can’t exactly be sure, whilst Lewis Morgan was one of Scottish football’s brightest sparks perhaps Celtic signed him to ensure that Rangers would never be able to get their hands on him.
But with the winger now out of Parkhead, that would certainly make for an interesting move in the future.
