A leading German journalist has claimed there has been “no decision” taken on Rangers’ option-to-buy on Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Malik Tillman.

Kerry Hau – who works with German outlet SPORT-1 – has also claimed that the form of Malik Tillman at Rangers last season has also attracted suitors from elsewhere.

The 21-year-old USA international has just spent the season on loan at Ibrox, where his 12 goals earned him rave reviews as well as the PFA Scotland and Rangers Young Player of the Year awards.

Speaking on the Die Bayern-Woche podcast, Kerry Hau claims that there has been no update on the situation of Malik Tillman as Rangers continue an impressive summer revamp.

“No decision has yet been made regarding the future of Malik Tillman and Gabriel Vidović,” he said, as translated by Roro89F on Twitter.

“Tillman has generated a lot of interest thanks to his great season with Rangers, including in leagues other than Scotland.”

Rangers and Bayern yet to take Malik Tillman decision

Rangers fans will have specific interest on the timing of these comments, with Malik Tillman himself claiming the club’s option-to-buy with Bayern was set to run out in June.

The Gers loanee was talking to the press after picking up that PFA Scotland award and the USA international was clear that he’d be taking his time over any decision.

“I’ve spoken to Michael Beale already and he said, ‘Just take your time. It’s your decision’. That’s what I’m going to do,” Tillman said.

“The option is until the beginning of June or something so I still have three or four weeks to decide. I’m going to take my time because obviously it’s a big decision for me.

“It is still open. I am going to talk to Michael Beale in the coming days and see what he is saying and what the club is saying. Then I am going to speak to Bayern again and see what their plan is for me. And then I am going to decide.”

The claims also suggest that a meeting between Bayern and Rangers concerning Malik Tillman, which Michael Beale claimed was scheduled at the end of May, has not resolved the situation.

Rangers will reportedly need to pay £5m to make any move for Malik Tillman permanent, with the Bayern loanee a bright spark in a season of disappointment at Ibrox.
