Rangers fans are left thinking what might’ve been as Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson is linked with a move to Juventus or Inter Milan.
The Scotland international star, 24, has been on exceptional form since a move to Serie A last season and now some of the division’s top clubs are readying bids for his services.
That’s according to Ekrem Konur, who claims that both Juventus and Inter Milan have an eye on Lewis Ferguson this January.
It comes amid a stellar season for Ferguson in Italy, the stand-in Bologna captain netting four goals from midfield and signing a new contract earlier in the campaign.
Lewis Ferguson linked to Juventus & Inter Milan
Having grown up a Rangers fan and been released by the club’s Academy as a kid, the situation surrounding the midfielder is a source of frustration for Ibrox supporters.
Rangers were also extensively linked to Lewis Ferguson during his time with Aberdeen as the club assessed its homegrown options in the squad.
But the Rangers ship almost certainly looks to have sailed with the interest from Inter Milan and Juventus likely to blow the Ibrox side out of the water.
It’s a reminder to Rangers that the Gers have got to strike early on young Scottish talents because once they get that first big move they are almost certainly out of our reach.
One that got away for Rangers
Rangers have missed out on several big talents coming from Scotland in recent seasons, with Lewis Ferguson probably the stand-out example.
The nephew of former Rangers captain Barry and son of former Ibrox midfielder Derek, the Gers connection made this move something of a no-brainer.

But as things have transpired Lewis Ferguson made the switch to Italy where he’s emerging as a key player for Bologna and attracting big interest.
It’s not just in Italy either, with interest from the Premier League mooted by the player’s agent.
Not that the Italian side are in any rush to sell; Ferguson is contracted to Bologna until 2027 and the Serie A side can command a hefty transfer fee for his services.
