Rangers target Anass Salah-Eddine has been told that he is free to leave Ajax this week – but he could end up joining Utrecht.
Rangers are expected to bring in a left back ahead of the transfer deadline later this week.
Question marks still surround the futures of Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz and we have seen left back after left back linked with joining Rangers this month.
The favourite right now appears to be Fluminense talent Jefte, who is currently on loan at APOEL in Cyprus and is nearing a move to Glasgow.
Rangers have been looking at other options though and a move for Ajax talent Anass Salah-Eddine could be possible ahead of the transfer deadline.
Anass Salah-Eddine free to leave Ajax amid Rangers pursuit
Reports last week suggested that Rangers are interested in brining Salah-Eddine to Ibrox but faced a battle with Torino.
Salah-Eddine is seen as a late target for Rangers with the deadline fast approaching and Nils Koppen will be well aware of him given his knowledge of Dutch football.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf now offer more, stating that Danny Blind has told Salah-Eddine that he is free to leave this week.
It’s stated that Salah-Eddine simply has ‘no prospects’ under Ajax boss John van ’t Schip and he is allowed to go.

Utrecht are understood to be interested having already signed Sam Lammers from Rangers earlier this month.
However, Salah-Eddine allegedly fancies leaving Dutch football and trying his luck abroad, which could make a move to Rangers very appealing.
Salah-Eddine has only managed six league appearances so far this season and the 22-year-old will surely want to move on.
Capable of playing at left back or in midfield, Salah-Eddine could bring versatility to Ibrox and has been praised as ‘fast and creative’.
Jefte appears to be the most likely signing at left back but Salah-Eddine may be viewed as a utility player for years to come and Ajax’s willingness to do a deal will have been noted inside Ibrox.
