Rangers still have a few days left to move players on that Philippe Clement has deemed surplus to requirements.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the fringe players in his squad, however, only Kieran Dowell out of the big earners has left Ibrox on a temporary basis.

Up next could be Rabbi Matondo with a new club joining the chase for the Rangers winger.

Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo being watched by Ajax

The 24-year old had all but agreed to join Coventry City only for negotiations to break down over bonus clauses between the two teams.

Sunderland have consistently been linked too as they chase promotion, but the latest team is a real head turner.

According to Mike Verweij of Dutch media outlet Telegraaf, Ajax are considering a move for the Wales international:

“Ajax’s scouting team is also particularly charmed by Rabbi Matondo (24) from Rangers FC.”

The report goes on to detail that, if signed, Matondo would be the backup left-winger to Mika Godts leaving him with a direct choice of; regular football in the English Championship, or a new adventure with a team that plays European football and competes for trophies.

Have Rangers already secured Matondo’s replacement?

Should he actually leave, Rangers look to have already secured Matondo’s replacement in Findlay Curtis who has enjoyed a whirlwind few weeks after making his debut against Fraserburgh.

The 18-year old, who has been at the academy since he was six, has put pen to paper on a new contract with Clement happy to see the forward commit to Rangers:

“We are delighted that Findlay has committed his future to Rangers,” Clement told the Rangers website.

“He is a player who has been around our first-team set-up for a significant period of time and his hard work and dedication has been immediately clear in the opportunities he has been afforded in recent weeks.

“As a boyhood Rangers fan, he is well aware of what it takes to represent this club, and I look forward to his continued development over the coming years.”
