Dor Turgeman has already addressed transfer speculation as Rangers target £5m-rated ‘special’ talent

Rangers will head into the summer transfer window with another rebuild on the cards whilst Celtic tweak what is already a consistent and successful team.

Nils Koppen has his work cut out given that the San Francisco 49ers won’t affect spending to the level that fans would have wanted, even if the board have sought for guarantees on transfers.

The first potential target to be linked with Rangers is Dor Turgeman, the Israeli international who scored his first senior goal for his country during the recent break from club football.

Maccabi Tel Aviv value Turgeman at £5m with the 21-year old a carbon copy of Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa in terms of style of play.

The obligatory YouTube compilations look good, with the young striker a combination of Hamza Igamane in terms of dribbling ability, Danilo in terms of link play and Cyriel Dessers in terms of finishing – on a good day, that is.

Rangers target Dor Turgeman has addressed future already

Speaking to Maccabi Tel Aviv’s media team last year after scoring a stunning solo goal against Hapoel Be’ersheva, Turgeman gave an exciting insight into what he would bring to Rangers’ squad:

“I am delighted with this goal as I always want to score and do special things. Happy it just worked for me this time,” said the 6ft 1inch tall hitman.

“Do I score goals like that in training? Sometimes I do. To be perfectly honest, after leaving the defenders behind me all I thought about was ‘I hope not to miss this’ so I am happy it went in.”

When asked if he had any plans to leave Israel for a bigger club, he said:

“I am here and doing the best I possibly can. What will happen in the future is difficult to know. I didn’t deal with the offers that were mentioned, I kept working and focusing on Maccabi Tel Aviv.

“I don’t regret any decision that I take and I don’t think that rushing to move away is a good thing. One has to be dominant here first, in the league, to the lead the team and then we will see.”

What do Turgeman’s numbers look like as Rangers circle?

Turgeman is enjoying his breakthrough season in Israel after reaching the 100-game mark for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

With 17 goals and six assists in 35 games, his ratio maybe doesn’t look too inspiring, however, his league record of a goal every 115 minutes is impressive given his age and stage of development.

Signing players on an upward trajectory is exactly what Rangers need to do because the finished article is usually too expensive.

Igamane is the perfect example. Signed from an unfancied league, with an unknown reputation, the 22-year old has shown that Rangers don’t need to spend a lot of money to sign quality who can make a difference.
