Rangers got an up-close and personal glimpse of Connor Barron as the Ibrox-tipped midfielder impressed with Aberdeen.
The Scotland U21 talent is in the final six months of his Dons contract and had found himself out of the team under former manager Barry Robson at times this campaign.
Continuing in the starting XI under Neil Warnock in Glasgow, Barron nabbed himself an assist at Ibrox, the Aberdeen star’s long ball being latched onto by a hungry Bojan Miovski.
Whilst it wasn’t to be a match-defining moment, the assist showed Rangers fans exactly why some have been tipping Connor Barron as a long-term Ryan Jack replacement.
Connor Barron a Ryan Jack Rangers replacement?
An energetic midfielder with an eye for a pass, Connor Barron is considered one of the brightest homegrown options in the Scottish Premiership.
Still young at 21-years-old, not only does the midfielder have substantial talents but he is also available on a free having let his Dons contract run down its final months.
As a result, there have been plenty of rumours around a switch to Rangers with the Ryan Jack comparisons plain to see on and off the park.
The veteran Gers midfielder, 31, joined the club on a free transfer from Pittodrie in 2017 after coming through at Aberdeen and going on to skipper the club.
Out of contract at the end of the season, Scotland international Jacko is one of several names who are approaching a Rangers crossroads.
Plenty of interest in Aberdeen midfielder
Rangers also have some big choices to make in the middle of the park this summer and Connor Barron represents an interesting option.
Having changed agents midway through the season amid swirling Rangers rumours, Barron too is in a strong negotiating position.
Several of this generation’s brightest young Scottish talents have found their feet, and their fame, outside of their homeland and the young Aberdeen star may well be the latest.

Whilst ex-Rangers star Kenny Miller has been quick to raise doubts about Barron’s suitability for Ibrox, there is legitimate interest south of the border.
Aberdeen reportedly rejected a £500k offer for Connor Barron from Swansea on deadline day, the Dons appearing to take their chances on losing the kid for nothing in the summer.
Connor Barron has made 58 appearances in total for Aberdeen, scoring once.
