Colombian journalist mentions Rangers alongside Santiago Moreno

Rangers have once again been mentioned alongside Colombian attacker Santiago Moreno, over a month on from when links first appeared to the forward.

Established Colombian journalist Ricardo Arte claims there are “rumours” Rangers have been triggered by America de Cali’s £2.1m ($3m) price tag.

These claims come after Rangers were heavily linked to the player by a number of sources back in May ahead of the summer transfer window.

Both Rangers and Leeds United were linked to 21-year-old speed merchant Moreno by Football Insider before links to Ibrox appeared in the Telegraph.

Mike McGrath’s Transfer Notebook claimed that the Gers, the Elland Road club and Southampton were all considering a move.

Rangers’ Champions League ambitions were also said to potentially be a deal-breaker.

There have also been several comparisons between Santiago Moreno and Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane.

The Anfield club paid £34m to take Mane to Merseyside from Southampton in 2016 [BBC Sport] and the Senegalese forward has gone on to cement himself as one of the world’s best players.

Links to Moreno also come amid much transfer talk concerning Rangers and another two Colombian players.

Rangers have also been linked with a move for Colombian international Rafael Santos Borre as the striker’s current contract runs down at River Plate.

The Ibrox club is also said to be bracing themselves for a bid from FC Porto for striker Alfredo Morelos but there remains conjecture over the transfer fee involved.
