Rangers appear to be targeting Danilo to join Cyriel Dessers in attack, however, Matija Frigan remains available despite being the subject of multiple bids.

The 20-year old Croatian at HNK Rijeka is much sought after across Europe and beyond after impressing in his break-through season last year.

According to Sportske, Rangers would have to join a lengthy queue and dig deep if Matija Frigan is a realistic target.

The report claims that, so far, Portland Timbers, Dinamo Zagreb, New York City, Braga, Celta Vigo, Sunderland, Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai and one club from Belgium have all tabled bids.

All have been rejected.

The reason for this is because the Rijeka president Damir Miskovic is adamant that the Croatian Under-21 international is leaving for nothing less than €6m (£5.1m).

Will Rangers move for Matija Frigan?

This is the figure that Rangers were said to have bid but was subsequently denied.

For Rangers, this is the sort of fee that we are paying for established players not someone with 60 senior games like Matija Frigan.

Cyriel Dessers cost a similar fee when Rangers signed him from Cremonese and Matija Frigan still has a lot to prove.

With 15 goals and three assists in 31 appearances though, it is easy to see why clubs with deeper pockets that our own are circling.

Every  club wants to sign the next Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe before they make their big move but these players are getting more and more expensive.

Second tier clubs have switched on, as have we.

Clubs like ours might not have access to the same TV money but the clubs who are buying our players do and Rijeka are doing their best to get their share.

With Michael Beale confirming that Danilo isn’t the only striker Rangers are considering, Frigan could well be back on the table – if the price is right.
