Cyriel Dessers anxiety eased as Rangers boss drops big signing update

Cyriel Dessers has been Rangers biggest outlay so far after signing from Cremonese.

The Nigerian international has only fleetingly been seen on RTV videos though and not in any substantial volume on the training pitch.

Thankfully there has been an explanation as to why Cyriel Dessers has been missing from Rangers training and why he wasn’t seen against Newcastle United either from fan media outlet Heart and Hand.

“Dessers is fine, just a couple days behind in his fitness. He’ll play Saturday.”

Cyriel Dessers in line for Rangers appearance after Beale revelation

The £5.6m signing from Serie A will be an exciting addition to Michael Beale’s squad as the obvious replacement for Alfredo Morelos, Cyriel Dessers will be expected to make a real impact for Rangers.

Danilo remains a target, according to reports, but until he is signed, Sam Lammers and Kemar Roofe will be the main options with Fashion Sakala on standby – in case of emergencies.

It’s good news again after Cyriel Dessers absence set in the Rangers fan injury PTSD that we have become accustomed to.

Thankfully though, it is just fitness due to him not returning to pre-season at the same time as the rest of the group.

The same applies for Kemar Roofe who has only just started full training sessions with the main group.

Genuine options and variety in attack is a luxury that no Rangers manager has had since Steven Gerrard won the league with a fit Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe, Cedric Itten and a 40-game Kemar Roofe.

Every successful Rangers team has always had strength in-depth in attack and Michael Beale finally has it.

If Danilo signs too, then the lack of a clinical edge should become an even more distant memory.

Picking on form instead of necessity should always be the Rangers way.

Cyriel Dessers making his Rangers debut on Saturday only gives fans something else to look forward to as excitement builds for the start of the new season.
