Clement hints fourth Rangers player could follow Davies, Hagi & Cantwell out of Ibrox this week

Philippe Clement didn’t mince his words as he addressed questions on Rangers’ transfer business following the weekend’s thumping win over Ross County.

The 6-0 victory has built upon growing confidence in the Belgian’s youthful Rangers squad which is slowly beginning to take shape after a tumultuous summer.

But there is still much work to be done as Philippe Clement looks forward to what he is hoping will be a ‘busy’ end to the transfer window.

Before this summer’s rather complicated window closes on Friday evening, Rangers are looking to ship several fringe players out of the team.

But with all the attentions on the likes of Ben Davies, Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell, there’s another member of the Rangers squad who could be destined for the exit door.

Philippe Clement points to flurry of Rangers exits

Rangers manager Philippe Clement expects more incoming business than outgoing deals to be struck as Ibrox braces for a late flurry of activity.

Speaking to the press following the victory over Ross County, Clement claimed that any outgoings would involve players not included in the thumping win over the Staggies.

“I expect a busy week but more busy with incoming and a few outgoing,” said Clement.

“Outgoing, not for players who were in the squad today, that’s clear. More outgoings for players who weren’t in the squad.”

With Ben Davies completing a season-long loan switch to Birmingham City, all attentions are now fixed on Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell.

Both high-earning ‘number 10s’, Rangers need to shift the pair out before they can bring someone more suitable in.

But looking at the make-up of Saturday afternoon’s matchday squad, Scott Wright’s absence will also turn a few heads in the Rangers support.

Scott Wright faces summer Ibrox transfer exit

Former Aberdeen winger Wright has been strongly linked with a move to the English Championship but the sounds have gone rather quiet amid the player’s latest injury.

Scott Wright hasn’t been seen since coming off the bench v Motherwell and wasn’t included in the matchday squads against St Johnstone or Ross County due to a muscle injury.

But with Clement clearly stating that those who were not included against Ross County would be amongst the likelier to leave, it has left Wright’s future firmly up in the air.

The likes of Sheffield Wednesday have been most closely linked with a move this summer but there have been several times when Scott Wright’s exit has failed to materialise.

Most notably last season when a switch to Turkey collapsed, Wright remains in the Rangers squad and is routinely used by Philippe Clement on match days.

One of the club’s only homegrown options too, we suspect Wright has more use than either Ianis Hagi or Todd Cantwell at Ibrox but it’s clear we can’t rule out a late summer switch.

Former Rangers winger Neil McCann reckons that Scott Wright would be a perfect addition for one team of Scottish Premiership rivals.
