Michael Beale shot down any interest that suggested Chris Willock was a transfer target for Rangers in yesterday’s press conference.

The QPR winger being strongly linked with a move to Ibrox due to his connection with both the manager and his assistant Neil Banfield.

It begs the question as to who Michael Beale was watching at the now infamous Norwich v QPR fixture given that Angus Gunn from the Canaries was the only name that has been linked before.

Normally, when there are rumours with players flying about, fan media representatives are on hand to rubbish them pretty quickly but they have been surprisingly quiet recently.

Heart and Hand’s David Edgar did comment on the Gers gaffer pouring cold water on a return to his former club though.

With former podcast contributor and Rangers communications chief David Graham no longer working within the red brick walls, it will be an interesting summer ahead.

Ross Wilson was quick to shut down the leaks from the recruitment department and with Michael Beale now, almost, in sole charge, rumours might be at a premium.

The normal information flow from fan media might also be restricted.

As we have seen already, before the transfer window is even open, the mainstream media outlets have indulged in more than a little guesswork from time to time.

Beale has also been a headline writers dream and his quote filled press conferences make padding the back pages an easy task.

In Chris Willock’s case, it was an easy connection to make tipping him for a move to Rangers.

Beale said that we would be able to see the links with the deals that he made.

The Gers gaffer also said that he would be signing players that he had potentially worked with before.

Ryan Kent is, probably, leaving.

And then, he turns up at a game featuring his old club.

Sometimes though, two plus two doesn’t necessarily equal four.
