Bright Osayi-Samuel was once hotly tipped to sign for Rangers now, Ryan Kent could be joining him at Fenerbahce.

The Super Lig outfit aren’t shy in testing the waters in the British market and in an ironic twist of fate, the flying wingers could be lining up together a year after Rangers sought to pair them up on opposite flanks if Fener can persuade Ryan Kent to move to Turkey.

When news of Rangers interest was first revealed, the Nigeria international was at QPR and and scoring goals off the right-hand side of attack.

A summer price tag of £5m saw the in-demand forward stay put but his career took a different path when the Turkish giants came calling.

After struggling initially to make an impact, a move to right-back has seen the 25-year old become a regular.

His numbers might not be what they once were but he played in every one of Fenerbahce’s Europa League games and their Champions League qualifying ties.

What does Bright Osayi-Samuel’s story teach Ryan Kent if he leaves Rangers?

In Ryan Kent’s case, the grass might not necessarily be as green on the other side of the continent.

The former Liverpool winger’s goal tally is, almost, forgivable because of the work he does off the ball but, in another team, in another system, he will have to contribute more.

Kent’s form in 2020/21 should be his norm, not the exception. Double figures for goals and assists.

The sort of output that a winger or attacking midfielder will be expected to get at a big club on his sort of salary.

Osayi-Samuel’s initial struggles following a cut-price January move in 2021 saw Rangers linked with a return in the summer but it would appear that patience – and a change of position – has been a virtue.

Something that Fenerbahce fans will need with Kent if he is tasked with scoring the goals to win them trophies.
