Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson continues to be linked with Rangers following Scotland’s exit from the World Cup.

Despite securing the signing of Dan Neil on a free transfer, the Light Blues are keen on adding another midfielder to their ranks this summer.

Nicolas Raskin could be leaving Ibrox, making it imperative to finalise a replacement prior to his exit.

If Lewis Ferguson joins post the World Cup, who should Derek McInnes name the Rangers captain?

Rangers have held initial talks with Bologna for Lewis Ferguson

Rangers Review’s Chris Jack has claimed that a couple of weeks ago, the Light Blues touched base with Bologna regarding Ferguson.

The club are aware of the finances involved in potentially bringing the 26-year-old back to Ibrox this summer.

However, there will be a number of clubs keen on signing him should he decide to leave in the coming weeks.

Which midfielder can make Rangers title winners?

Danny Rohl is looking to sign at least one…

Jack told Rangers Review’s YouTube channel: “Rangers opened talks with Bologna a couple of weeks ago, just an exploration to see where everyone stood.

“They are aware of the financials of that particular deal, of what it’s going to cost for a transfer fee and what it would cost in terms of wages.

“Lewis Ferguson, if he does leave Bologna this summer, he’s not going to be short on offers.

“We know what the pull of Rangers is, what the emotional attachment is, but he’s still got a big move in him and he’s still got a number of years at a high level.

“It’s not gone any further than sort of the initial conversations.”

How likely are Rangers to sign Lewis Ferguson?

If Ferguson does have a big move left in him and there are top Italian clubs that want him, he may fancy that.

The Serie A is one of Europe’s top five leagues, and he could move to a club offering him Champions League football.

While he is attached to Rangers, the lack of participation in Europe’s elite club competition certainly works against them.

If Rangers are to sell Thelo Aasgaard, how much should he be sold for?

That means that not only will they find it harder to afford to sign him, not just the transfer fee but also the wages.

The only way it happens is if Ferguson feels that he genuinely wants to return to Ibrox over seemingly more lucrative options.

As things stand, just because of the nature of finances at Rangers, it is unlikely that they will sign the Scotland international.

His performances at the World Cup will have only increased the interest in his services.
