Rangers’ winter transfer window not so much slammed shut as it closed very gently this February.

Rangers were in the hunt for a new winger but a deal could not be done and the transfer window’s final day passed by without any new arrivals.

The Gers did however confirm the pre-contract signing of Lyall Cameron with CEO Patrick Stewart earlier admitting that only one signing, maybe two, would be made this window.

It’s a transfer period instead that focused on outgoings and with air still blowing through the Turkish window, the futures of two Rangers stars remain uncertain.

Besiktas want left-back and midfielder

According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, Besiktas remain on the hunt for three new recruits before the Turkish transfer window closes on the 11th of February.

New manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has yet to make any new signings in Istanbul despite four players leaving the club this winter.

Besiktas failed in a late £3.3m loan-to-buy bid for Yilmaz on transfer deadline day and remain on the hunt for a new left-back.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been repeatedly clear that he does not want to sell Ridvan Yilmaz due to a lack of available replacements.

Besiktas also remain in the hunt for a new midfielder and a new left-winger, something of particular interest to Rangers due to links between the Turkish club and Tom Lawrence.

Fabrizio Romano linked Tom Lawrence to Besiktas back in January and a potential reunion with ex-Manchester United manager Solskjaer could be on the cards.

Six leave Rangers – could February make it eight?

Rangers managed to get rid of six players in the club’s first team squad this winter who weren’t contributing this season.

Kieran Dowell (Birmingham City) and Rabbi Matondo (Hannover 96) were the most high profile loan exits.

But young talents such as Alex Lowry (Wycombe Wanderers) and Zak Lovelace (Millwall) also left the club permanently.

Rangers then sent out the likes of Robbie Fraser (Livingston) and Cole McKinnon (Ayr United) on loan after pulling the plug on the club’s B team project.

There’s still plenty of deadwood to be cut from the squad but we reckon Rangers won’t be keen on letting either Ridvan Yilmaz or Tom Lawrence leave the club.

There might be some discussion amongst Rangers fans over the effectiveness of both players.

But given the Gers cannot replace them we’re sure the situation will be reassessed at the end of the season.
