Rangers were trying to bring in a new winger on transfer deadline day but failed to get the deal over the line.
That’s according to Heart & Hand host David Edgar, who claims Rangers have confirmed negotiations with an ‘unnamed’ winger ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
The podcast host also suggested that the deal couldn’t be done because the selling club were unable to find a suitable replacement before the window slammed shut.
David Edgar then suggested that Rangers could be taking a coy approach to the transfer story because they retain a summer interest in the player.
Rangers confirm winger transfer talks
”Rangers were trying to get a deal for a winger done (on transfer deadline day),” David Edgar told Heart & Hand’s Daily Update (04/02/25).
”An unnamed winger, but (they) were not able to do this.
”I believe the reason being that his club could not get a replacement in so therefore they were not willing to sanction the transfer.
”Rangers haven’t revealed who it is.
”Which makes me think there’s a possibility that they’re trying to keep it on the down low because they’ll be going back in in the summer.
”But we will see. If a winger pitches up in the summer we will know.
”But yeah Rangers were looking to add to that area.”
Rangers leave themselves short at left-wing
Ibrox fans do believe the club is short at left-wing with a lack of options in the position heading into the second half of the season.
Oscar Cortes has spent the bulk of the season sidelined whilst Rabbi Matondo has just left the Gers on loan to Hannover 96.
Ianis Hagi and Nedim Bajrami have deputised in the position at times this season whilst Hamza Igamane has also been expected to play out wide.

It’s clear Rangers wanted to sign a new left-wing option but couldn’t quite get the right deal over the line in time for Monday evening’s transfer deadline.
Rangers had failed with a bid for Belgian winger Yorbe Vertessen earlier in the day with the Union Berlin attacker eventually moving to RB Salzburg in Austria.
