Abdallah Sima latest pricks Rangers ears as Ibrox side wait to discover Vaclav Cerny fate

Rangers certainly have a love hate relationship with the loan market as the recent deals for Malik Tillman, Abdallah Sima and Vaclav Cerny prove.

All three players have made a big impression at Ibrox – albeit without ever delivering the success Rangers fans crave – before permanent deals proved too costly to complete.

There’s a feeling that Rangers’ recent loan signings haven’t quite had the time to have that impact and Vaclav Cerny is facing a similar end to Malik Tillman and Abdallah Sima before him.

But with Rangers eyeing a permanent deal for Cerny come the end of the season, perhaps former Ibrox loanee Abdallah can provide a safety net should the deal hit the skids.

Abdallah Sima set to leave Brighton?

Rangers failed in their bid to sign Abdallah Sima permanently in the summer of 2024 after the attacker’s impressive loan stint at Ibrox was disrupted by injury.

Things might’ve looked quite different for Rangers had the club managed to keep Sima fit in the latter half of the season with a serious injury suffered at AFCON with Senegal decimating his Ibrox career.

Nils Koppen claims Sima’s demands were the sticking point in the summer, with the forward eventually moving on to Champions League side Brest after Rangers’ failure to reach the competition.

But ahead of the new season, the Ibrox club might have their ears pricked up by the news that Sima is likely to be available for transfer come the end of the season.

According to Greek outlet Sports DNA, Brighton & Hove Albion are ready to ship the 23-year-old forward out with Olympiakos interested in a permanent deal.

Rangers remain hopeful of signing Vaclav Cerny

The news regarding Abdallah Sima’s availability may well be of interest to incoming Rangers sporting director Kevin Thelwell.

Sima is never slow to show his Rangers loyalties and it is fair to assume the forward would consider a move to Ibrox in the event of his Brighton exit.

Financially, it’s also been made clear that a US consortium will invest heavily in Rangers should the proposed takeover of the club be completed.

This could bridge any financial gap between both parties, with Rangers slashing the club’s wage bill significantly last summer whilst working under major financial constraints.

With Rangers also eyeing a permanent deal for Vaclav Cerny, perhaps the availability of Sima could soften the blow of losing out on the Czech international.

Cerny’s agent has been clear Rangers could struggle to put up a suitable financial package to sign the winger, with rumoured interest in Spain and England.
