Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has claimed it was “pretty special” to hear fans belting out his song in the 3-1 Scottish League Cup win over Hearts.

The Ibrox stopper, 30, played his part as the Ibrox side booked their Final date with Aberdeen with important stops at 1-0 and 2-0 to keep Rangers on the front foot.

Rangers fans have certainly taken to Jack Butland and have even adopted a Status Quo classic in homage to the the ex-Stoke, Crystal Palace and Manchester United stopper.

Speaking after the Hampden victory – where Rangers fans could be heard belting out Jack Butland’s song throughout the 90 minutes – the grateful goalkeeper is hoping there’s more to come.

“It’s pretty special (to hear Rangers fans singing my song),” Jack Butland told RangersTV.

“I’ve had some songs in the past but none have resonated or sung quite by so many people as that.

“It’s really nice to hear and long may it continue.”

Jack Butland praises on song Rangers teammates

Rangers and Jack Butland now have the chance to go and lift the Scottish League Cup trophy with an intriguing tie against Aberdeen lying in wait on December 17th.

There is certainly a good feeling building in Glasgow with Rangers manager Philippe Clement fully focused on delivering on a game-by-game basis.

Speaking about his side’s performance, Jack Butland praised the team for a “solid” showing and it’s little wonder the stopper’s song continues to ring out around the country.

“A very enjoyable afternoon,” said Butland. “Really solid performance. I thought first half we controlled the game really.

“Yeah they were a threat from free kicks and some long throws but we controlled it, we had some chances and we just needed a little more.

“Second half we definitely brought that and they have a little bit of a go in the end but quite a comfortable afternoon and a really solid performance.”

But could Jack Butland’s England hopes be central to the stopper’s long-term future in Glasgow?
