Nicolas Raskin has been linked with an exit from Rangers following his displays at the World Cup with the Belgium national team.
Even in their 3-2 win against Belgium on Wednesday, it was not until the introduction of the Light Blues midfielder, who replaced Kevin de Bruyne, that things began to click for them in the middle of the park.
Rangers are aware Raskin is likely to leave this summer, and now look to have begun their plans for life after the Belgian midfielder.
Nicolas Raskin has been linked with a Rangers exit…
Dan Neil and Vanja Dragojevic part of Derek McInnes’ midfield overhaul
The Light Blues appear to be prepared for life after Raskin, with Dan Neil already being confirmed as the fifth signing of the summer.
However, he is not expected to be the only arrival in that area of the pitch for this transfer window.
Rangers are eyeing Vanja Dragojevic and have even submitted an offer for the 20-year-old midfielder.
What is Ross McCrorie’s best position, according to you?
Rangers have brought him back to Ibrox!
The Gers have submitted £3.8m for the FK Partizan star and the Serbian club, while they want slightly more, are open to parting ways with him imminently.
While he is not stylistically like Raskin, if he is viewed as a starting option, the Belgian will not be in the same team.
This clearly is Derek McInnes showing his willingness to move on from the 25-year-old, and he could sign his second midfielder in the coming days.

Ian McCall expects Raskin to be used in deal to bring Lewis Ferguson to Rangers
Ian McCall knows that the finances involved for Lewis Ferguson may put him out of Rangers’ reach.
However, he believes that if Raskin is used in that deal, the Light Blues could bring the 26-year-old back to Ibrox.
Ferguson now has the time to sort his future out following Scotland’s exit from the World Cup.
Will you take Lewis Ferguson back at Rangers this summer?
Barry Ferguson has backed the move…
If the Gers do not want to include the Belgian in the deal, they will need to pay around £17m for their former player.
Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, McCall said: “I thought it would have to involve Raskin going the other way, I don’t know if that’s still the case.
“It seems like a prime time to sell him. He’s got two years of his contract to go. I don’t know if that’s the only way it’s financially feasible.
“I think the Raskin thing would need to happen for it to happen. If [Rangers] have the money to pay £17m [for Ferguson], it seems a lot for me for a holding midfield player. He can be a bit more than that. He can get forward and get the odd goal.”
