What happened with reported interest in Curtis Tilt and Jack Whatmough?

The transfer window has saw Rangers linked to plenty of players. But whilst rumours and reports continue around six in particular, we’ve heard little on two targets which showed early promise. Curtis Tilt and Jack Whatmough.
Both players currently ply their trade in English League One with Blackpool and Portsmouth respectively.
And whilst Curtis Tilt and Jack Whatmough appear good players, are they good enough for Rangers? And has our interest gone cold?
Former non-league defender Curtis Tilt moved to Blackpool from non-league football last season. The 27-year-old Englishman was heavily linked to Rangers by The Scottish Sun in the summer.

Talk of the interest resurfaced at the start of the month when Tilt said he’d be interested in a move to Ibrox.
But have Rangers moved on?

Old Firm were reportedly battling for Jack Whatmough

The Scottish Sun then linked Jack Whatmough to Ibrox a week ago. Whatmough, 22, is out-of-contract in the Summer. Rangers were reportedly battling it out with Old Firm rivals Celtic for his signature.
Again, any word on this potential deal appears to have gone cold. Has Rangers reported interested gone cold too?

The thing is, Rangers need centre back options going into next season. Joe Worrall is almost certain to return to Nottingham Forest – if he hasn’t already by the end of this month – and Gareth McAuley’s contract expires in the Summer.

The leaves us with only Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic at the centre of defence. But whilst we will need to sign a couple of centre backs, are these two the answer?
Tilt and Whatmough play at English League One level and Rangers could be looking for more quality and experience.
There’s perhaps one player who fits the bill. But would this Champions League regular be worth the risk?
