In an eye-opening interview with the Daily Mail, Curtis Tilt has said “it would be great” to play under Steven Gerrard. Rangers were linked to the former quarry worker, 27, in the Summer by the Scottish Sun, but there’s been no reports recently that we remain so.
In the Summer, Rangers went out and signed four new centre backs. We had multiple targets , Tilt may well have been one of them.

But now, have Rangers moved on from the likes of the Blackpool centre back? We were linked with Greek defender Vassilis Lambropoulos last month – a player with international and Champions League pedigree.
The same feature from the Daily Mail reports that Ipswich also put in a £700k bid for the centre back in pre-season. He remains at Blackpool.
Would you take Curtis Tilt?
Whilst flattered about the interest, it has far from be put off from the idea of a move to Ibrox. It’s something which interests powerful centre back Tilt.
“I’m grateful to the club [Blackpool] but I have ambitions to be the best I can be,’ Tilt said. ‘I’ve heard about Rangers and the thought of Steven Gerrard being interested is amazing. It would be great to play for him.”

The highest level Tilt has ever played at is English League One. In fact, Blackpool are his first Football League club. The defender worked in a quarry until he was 20. It’s a great story, and he may well be a player.
But should we be aiming for a player with higher pedigree? Or should Rangers look to get a solid, British option at centre back like Tilt for a knockdown price?
