Aberdeen fans don’t like when their players join Rangers and they don’t particularly like signing ex-Ibrox stars either.
Ryan Jack, Scott Wright and Connor Barron have all had the treatment when returning to Pittodrie in recent years following in the footsteps of the likes of David Robertson in years gone by.
And Dons supporters don’t like to see their team linked with former Gers, although they usually get over it if they start doing well for them, à la Ross McCrorie.
Aberdeen as a club showed how salty they can be by cutting Barron out of a picture with their player Nicky Devlin while on international duty.
It came after Rangers and Aberdeen were in dispute about the fee to be paid for Barron, eventually decided by a tribunal.
We’ve already discussed how Rangers could leave Aberdeen fuming again, and make millions at the same time, by swooping for out of contract left-back Jack MacKenzie.
Now, something entirely out of Gers‘ control is getting them worked up.

Aberdeen target ex-Rangers kid Kal Naismith
Aberdeen have been very active in this window and already added four players amid their mounting injuries and troubling form.
They’re looking to add more and Not the Old Firm is reporting they’re showing an interest in ex-Rangers man Kal Naismith.
It came after Andy Halliday teased that the Pittodrie side were signing one of his pals.
Naismith made 17 Light Blues appearances in the third division before moving on to pastures new and has built a decent career for himself down south, playing for Accrington Stanley, Portsmouth, Wigan, Luton and now Bristol City.
He has struggled with injuries this term and played just six times and Aberdeen are looking to tie up a loan for him for the rest of the season.
His contract is then up so he could be signed on a free.
Aberdeen fans not happy at Naismith link
Aberdeen supporters are not enjoying being linked with the Rangers academy product.
One said: “Oh the excitement… hold me back…. This is the type of last minute deals we have had to put up with previously.”
Another wrote: “Ngl, this wouldn’t do us any favours signing this crumbling piece of shortbread. He isn’t a No. 9 which we desperately need.”
This fan said: “I’d be utterly astonished if we signed him. Because he’s s***e.”
While another added: “No thanks.”
